Overview
What the product does.
Waiting Room Attendant runs a captcha-backed onboarding gate for Telegram groups. New joiners are muted, sent a Mini App captcha link, and verified — or auto-removed after the configured timeout. Re-entry flows let recovered users come back without manual cleanup.
Key capabilities
Captcha-link delivery
New joiners are muted on entry and sent a Telegram Mini App captcha link. State moves from MUTED to CAPTCHA_SENT to VERIFIED.
Configurable auto-removal
Unverified joiners are removed after a configurable timeout (default 10 minutes). Removal is recoverable — users can re-enter through approved flows.
Self-serve re-entry
Recovered users can run /reentry-invite or /challenge to re-issue verification without admin cleanup.
Symbolic-username handling
Profiles whose name fields contain no alphanumeric characters are removed immediately under the REMOVED_FROM_WAITING_ROOM terminal-recoverable state.
Admin-authorized actions
All moderation actions run inside the configured group and respect the permissions granted to the bot by that group's admins.

Once approved, open the bot in Telegram and tap Start.
Add the bot to your group as an admin with permissions to mute and remove members and manage join requests.
Configure the captcha window and timeout to match your community's expectations.

Security and permissions

Permissions required
- Added as admin in the group by the group's own admin team
- Restrict members permission — required to mute new joiners during the captcha window
- Manage join requests permission — required for the entry gate flow
What it cannot do
- Does not ban or permanently remove members — manages the entry queue only
- Does not act outside the group it has been installed and authorized in
- Does not access private messages or direct chats
- Does not retain personal data after the verification session ends
- Does not take action without admin authorization from the configured group
